Bloating during and after recovery

Hey everyone!

I recently did a post about bloating which was highly requested and I thought I would public it here as well + the German edition for those who have difficulties with understanding the English version :)

Ok I hate posting the first pic because I hate "posing" like that haha but I want to talk about an important topic: bloating.
I've already wrote about this before but feel like it needs more utterance.

Compare picture one and two. Apart from me, who's gained 10kg from 1 to 2 and changed a lot physically but also mentally, you can see that despite being quite skinny, my belly is bloated in the first picture.

I took this in 2014 when I was discharged from hospital where I had been forced to regain my weight and reach a reasonable (still not healthy weight).

Bloating during and even after recovery is totally normal. Every individual experiences it differently, some are more/some less bloated. How come?
Your body isn't used to a healthy amount of food anymore. Due to restriction, your body basically shuts down and tries to somehow gather enough energy to keep alive, therefore your digestion (apart from other functions) isn't working well (say hi to constipatio). When you start eating again, your body slowly starts recovering and working again, your digestion system is weak at first and therefore more gas is produced -> thus, you're bloated.
What's more, you'll feel constantly full, not just because of bloating but also because your stomach shrank, that's why you might feel full after a few bites only. Howevr, you need to continue eating even if you don't feel hunrgry. It will go back to normal size once you eat more (and don't worry, your stomach won't get "too big", it will NORMALISE which is good!!!!) and your appetite/hunger feelings will come back with time!
So again, bloating during and still after recovery for some time, is normal.
Also if you're healthy bloating occurs DAILY. It's absolutely normal, your food is digesting and gas is produced, that's how humans work Just because you do not see it often on social media, it doesn't mean you have to have a perfectly flat stomach 24/7. Don't let social media influence your mind. I hate how so many get confronted with unrealistic "ideals" (plus, you can never be sure if or to what extend the picture has been photoshopped or if the person behind is 100% real. There is a reason why plastic surgery booms).
Every single person gets bloated during the day! You do not have to feel ashamed if you're bloated. Yes, it's not the best feeling, yes some are more and some get less bloated, but that's who we are and the way we are built. 😊
